Choice of Subject in Engineering

This is one question in most of the students’ minds at the time of selection. That’s why the course Engineering is known for its diversity. Many students are clueless at the time of counseling as to which stream to opt for. It is a very delicate decision because then, that’s what will keep them going for the rest of their lives. Therefore, it is very important to know where you hold your interest in. Now, the most difficult part is-knowing where your interest is.

engineeringInterest-  This is very important. Find out which subject has always held your interest, your curiosity to know more. If you don’t have interest in a subject, and you still pursue the same later on, it is very likely that you will fail. Sadly, this happens to be the case very frequently. Even though, they hold interest in one, they go for something else they do not have an interest in, merely because of peer pressure or because that subject is recommended by someone else.

Scope- According to what you want to do later in life, check for the scope of that subject in the field. For example, if you want a guaranteed a job, you can always take up a software or communication branch. If you want to pursue higher studies, a technical subject can always have a greater value (only if you have any interest).

College– Sometimes, it so happens that, in a college, there are specific departments that are very good while others are not that great. Very good could be in terms of good placement from that branch, and good teachers that are very supportive in that branch.

So, be careful in what you choose. Make sure you meet at least 2 in the above requirements, and then, there’s no stopping you. Good luck!
