CEED – Common Entrance Examination for Design is a joint Entrance Examination for admission into post graduate studies in the field of Technological Design conducted by IITs and IISc jointly.
Examination Pattern of Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED)
CEED is consists of two parts, Part A and B.
Part A is a computer based Screening test and it is the qualifying Test for Part B. Only qualified candidates of Part A are eligible to attain the Part B Test.
All the Questions are objective type in Part A and answer will be captured in online Only.
Part A evaluate visualization and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, observation and design sensitivity.
Minimum Percentage of marks required to shortlisted:-
- Open : 10%
- OBC NCL : 9%
- SC/ST/PwD : 5%
Score of the Part A is used for Screening purpose only and Part B Score will be only used for CEED Merit List.
Part B Test evaluates Drawing, creativity, communication skills and analytical and problem solving skills.
Answer booklet will be provided in the Exam hall for to answer Part B and it will evaluate manually.
Copy of Score card can be download from the Website, there is no provision to send Physical copy of the Score card.
Application Process of CEED Test
CEED application process is completely online. There is no offline application to apply for the test.

CEED qualified students are eligible to apply for MDes and PhD programs of Designing in Various colleges.
CEED score card is valid up to 1 year only.
Eligibility to apply for CEED
Candidate must have passed a degree/ Diploma / Post graduate degree programme of 4 years or 3+2 years or must have passed the GD Arts Diploma programme by the Entrance Year.
Candidates appearing final year of examination may also apply for the Entrance Examination.
There is no age limit to appear for CEED Examination. Candidate can appear many times for the test. There is no limit to apply for the test.
- For all Women candidates : 1100.00
- For SC/ST/PwD Candidates: 1100.00
- For all other Candidates: 2200
Application fee is non refundable. Application fees has to be paid through Online by available payment option in the website.
Requirement of Documents at the time of Online Application process
You need below documents handy at the time of Applying for CEED online.
- Scanned Copy of your Recent photograph (In jpg Format)
- Scanned Copy of Signature (In jpg Format)
- Scanned Copy of Degree Certificate (in pdf format)
- Category Certificate for SC/ST/OBC NCL Category
- Medical Certificate for PwD category

CEED Test is conducted in 19 cities, and candidate compulsory to choose 3 cities in the order preference at the time of online application process.
Change of cities is not possible after submitting Online application in any circumstances.
If you are not belongs to the below list of cities, you can select nearest city as your preference for the test.

As CEED test will conduct in two parts, and Part A is only Objective type.
