Our Human Resource Development Minister Ms. Smriti Irani has announces to launch SAMVAY i.e. Skill Assessment Matrix for Vocational Advancement of Youth. It aims to integrate vocational and conventional education to the students. On the occasion of National Education Day, Ms. Irani has said that all the central universities should implement this credit transfer scheme from the next academic year, so that people who want to resume their studies can go ahead and do it.
A credit framework will be there to allow the transfer lateral and vertical credit within the vocational educational system and between current education systems. The framework will follow the National Skills Qualification Framework. All the trainers will have to get registered under AICTE. After the completion of the skill modules required for the certification, he will get the credits which he can submit to the institute. The institute will now transfer them to the technical board or university. Now, the certification will be awarded by the university or technical board when they will assemble together the vocational skill and education credits.
On the same National Education Day, our President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee came ahead to launch a portal i.e. Know Your College. This portal specifically targets the students going for higher education. It aims to increase awareness about the opportunities that higher education provides.
Apart from these, the other launches were also there in the occasion. Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan got launched to allow the higher education institutions to get connected. Also, a scholarship called “PRAGATI” got launched in the favor of girls pursuing technical education at undergraduate level.
