It’s good news for the students of IGNOU across the World. Indira Gandhi national Open University ( IGNOU ) lunched web based radio and TV channels for its students.
IGNOU Students now able to access high quality curriculum based audio -video programmes and get opportunity to interact with subject expert in real time. This he felt was in tune with the objectives of the digital India programme of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. This webcast is much economical compared to commercial broadcasts and can be easily accessed.
The unique feature of these web-based channels are that they are in public domain and can be accessed by the students directly from their homes at http://www.ignouonline.ac.in/Broadcast/without having to go to the Regional Centres or Local Study Centres. This is in keeping with the philosophy of openness of IGNOU’s educational system.
IGNOU’s webcast would be on a pilot test run initially after which high quality audio-video programmes along with ‘live’ interactions with subject experts in the field would be customized to meet the specific needs of the students in consultations with different Schools of Studies & Regional Services Division (RSD) of IGNOU. This initiative will ultimately make a qualitative as well quantitative difference in distance mode of learning.
