The students and academicians in Odisha got a good news as three leading educational institutions from the State — IIT Bhubaneswar, NIT-Rourkela and KIIT University –found a place in the ‘Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2019’.
On Wednesday the ranking result was published and, IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela have been placed between 601-800 ranks out of 1,258 institutions in the world.
The only deemed university that made an impressive debut in the world university rankings is KIIT. It has been placed in the 1000+ ranking category.
In comparison to all other Universities, KIIT is very young to get a place in this coveted and much-awaited ranking. It is just twenty years old as an institution for professional education (1997) and 14 years old as a University (2004).
It is the only self-financing University in entire Eastern India to make a way into this ranking.
Expressing happiness over the development, KIIT & KISS founder Prof Achyuta Samanta said, “This achievement has been possible due to the blessings of the Almighty coupled with the hard work and relentless efforts of the staffs and students.”
The KIIT, which was started in a rented house with just Rs 5,000, now has a global recognition and is placed among the top 1001+ universities of the world, he added.
All total 33 institutions from India have found placed best of the world institutes in The World University Rankings.
As usual IISC (Indian Institute of Science), Bangalore topped in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2019 among all Indian Universities. It is ranked between 251-300 sharing position with Jacobs University, Germany and the University of Illinois, Chicago among others.
Globally, the Oxford University topped the world university rankings followed by the University of Cambridge and Stanford University.
