The IIMs across the nation conducts Common Admission Test (CAT 2014) every year, to short-list candidates for business administration programmes. On the basis of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning a person is given score. And accordingly get invited for admission
Why Changes in CAT 2014 :-
After hitting a seven-year low in CAT 2013, the number of CAT aspirants is expected to see a marginal rise this year. Apparently, to make the CAT 2014 much more aspirant friendly this year, the IIM is implementing below few changes in exam patron.
Major Changes in Test Pattern 2014 :-
Time Management: – The test duration has gone up by half an hour i.e from 140 minutes to 170 minutes.
Need to Solve More: – Questions in each section have been increased to 50 in each section from the existing 30 questions.
Flexibility on Selection: – Candidates have the flexibility to devote more or less time to each section according to their ability. One can switch over from one section to another section at any point during the examination timing.
No Trail: – This year there the tutorial will not be available before the start of the examination and the candidates are advised to do the tutorials from the website well in advance.
Exam Syllabus: – Something remain unchanged, There’s been no change in the exam syllabus. Candidates need to study same four sections: Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, and Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.
More touch point: – The CAT 2014 will be conducted in 99 cities comprising of 354 test sites, details of which yet to published.
Slot got Squeezed: – Earlier,. The CAT 2014 will be held only on two separate dates (Nov 16 & Nov 22) unlikely earlier the exam was conducted over a period of 22-days. Hence, candidates do not have the option of selecting their preferred slots.
Improved Service:- This time student will experience a better quality in exam service as Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS), which has conducted examination like GATE, JEE, AIPMT, JIPMER etc will be in charge of conducting CAT too this year.
