You may be thinking that you are wasting so much of your time on internet. Be it reading blogs, watching videos or using Facebook. Strange but true, US varsity is coming up with a new degree-level course called “Wasting Time on Net”. From next semester only the Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania is going to offer the course to the students.
We spend long hours every day staring at the screen checking social media, watching funny videos, chatting with friends or doing online shopping. But who had thought it can be mould into degree level course at a university and used to create great works for students.
Through the course, Candidates will be asked to “stare at the screen for three hours, only interacting through chat rooms, bots and social media.” Students will also be required to “explore the long history of boredom and time-wasting” by reading works by writers, theorists and creatives including Betty Friedan, Raymond Williams and John Cage.
The rest of the course will be covered by Professor Kenneth Goldsmith, who is also into other similar unconventional courses which includes ‘Uncreative Writing’ and ‘Interventionist Writing’.
