Various moot teams from the School of Law at SASTRA brought laurels by winning 3 major moot competitions, finishing runner’s up in one and bagging individual special prizes in various national moot court competitions conducted recently.
In the recently concluded Justice Hidayatullah National Moot Court competition on October 19, 2014 organised by HNLU, Raipur, the SATSRA team comprising Ashwin Kumar, AsutoshPotharaju and SakethKasibhatla won the overall first prize trophy along with a cash prize of Rs.25,000 beating Symbiosis Law School, Pune in the finals. Saketh also won the best researcher cash award of Rs.7,500.
Another moot team comprising M.Kiran, B.M.Vikas and M.S.Ram won the Pro Bono Environmental Moot organised by the School of Excellence of the TN Dr.Ambedkar Law University on October 19, 2014. The winning team beat M.S.Ramiah Law School, Bangalore and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.15,000 besides the overall trophy.
The winning streak began with a team comprising K.Srinadan, VarshaChandrashekhar and G.Annapoorani winning the 13th Surana&Surana International Technology Law Moot Court Competition hosted by Symbiosis Law School, Pune in association with Surana&Surana International Attorneys. The focus of the moot problem was on Copyright, Technology Law and Private International Law.
The winning team lifted the glittering trophy with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000/- beating GNLU, Odisha in the finals conducted on Ocotber 15, 2014. Finishing 2nd in the Surana&Surana trial advocacy moot organized by NUALS, Kochi, SASTRA’s moot team beat NLSIU, Bangalore in the semi-finals but lost to the SOEL, Chennai in the finals conducted early this month.
However, V.Karthik bagged the best speaker award and the team won the prize for the best memorials. The management of SASTRA congratulates all the winning teams and assured financial support for the SASTRA Moot Society to participate in the 2015 Willem C. Vis International Moot.
