On 23rd September Poridhi Proshno is organizing a seminar in Jadavpur University titled “Converging Marginalities” at Vivekananda Hall (World View). People who are interested are invited to attend this enriching seminar which would address the various issues and topics related to approaching the term marginal and what new issues have arisen due to the shifting boundaries of this term. This event will also mark the debut of Poridhi Proshno who is responsible for organizing the event.
The main speakers for this event are Kiran Keshavamurthy, Robin Soren, Bimal Lama and Mohit Ranadeep. The discussions would try to answer various questions like, is being ‘marginal’ relative?, does society, throughout time, shift its boundaries to define new marginalities, along newly formed axes of oppression?, does the once-marginal itself marginalize others in a stratified society?, is the power and the will to oppress reside solely within the privileged, or is it taken up by the less-privileged too? along with many more of such intriguing questions.
The event will start at 2:00 Pm and continue till 5 in the evening. The seminar “Converging Marginalities” certainly promises to be an event that would incite intellectual discussions and provide important issues to ponder upon. People are invited to attend the seminar to enrich themselves and be aware of current developments on this topic.
