William Kamkwamba is a Malawian innovator who rose to fame after building a windmill to power some electrical appliances in his family house. This was noticeable as Kamkwamba build it on the knowledge from books he read in the local library and no external assistance. He stands as an example to his society and the world at large that how motivated one can be and how education can be used for the benefit of all.
Coming from a poor family, Kamkwamba carried his own education by motivating himself and always creating the urge to know more. From his time to building windmills in his village from bicycle parts and blue gum trees, he has come a long way. Through his Moving Windmills Project foundation not only did to manage to supply power to his own village but also took the initiative of educating young minds by building schools in the local area.
The classrooms built have solar panel installations that allow the students to study late into the night. This is an innovation which all schools should inspire towards. The solar panel installation initiated by Kamkwamba also helps students in the local high school to use computers. Kamkwamba has made a massive progress not only for himself but has shown the power of how one man educating himself can be the reason for the development of the whole community around them. He still continues to work and inspire more with his unceasing efforts.
