Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) is an entrance test conducted by BCECE (a state-level Examination Board). The highly competitive entrance exam is carried out by the board every year across various districts in and around the state for admitting students into several undergraduates (UG) courses of Medical, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Agriculture.
The prestigious exam is taken by students in large numbers wanting to pursue a professional degree in approximately 14 government as well as private colleges/universities of the state of Bihar.
Eligibility Criteria for Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE)
Applicants should have cleared 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology subjects from a recognized council with at least 45 percent marks (minimum 40 percent for reserved categories). Students who have appeared in the 12th standard and are still awaiting their final result are also eligible to apply.
The online application process for BCECE 2018 has begun from 7th March 2018. Interested & eligible candidates can register online in the prescribed format before 28th March through a link available at the official website. The exam is scheduled to be held on 29th and 30th April 2018.
Exam Pattern of Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE)
The BCECE was earlier held in two phases (Stage 1 & Stage 2). Stage 1 acted as a qualifying exam for Stage 2. However, from this academic year, there has been some significant change in the BCECE exam pattern. The entrance exam will now be held offline (paper and pen mode) in a single slot.
According to BCECE exam format, there are the following categories.
- PCM Category:(Maths, Physics, and Chemistry)
- PCB Category: (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry)
- PCMB Category:(Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Maths)
- CBA Category: (Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture)
There are 5 sections (Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science). Each section contains 100 questions (400 marks). Physics, as well as chemistry, are compulsory for the engineering stream while there is a choice between Mathematics and Biology. The time limit for each subject is 90 minutes.
The question papers (published in English/Hindi Language) are based on the syllabus covered in class 11th and 12th. The exam papers will be in ORM layout with objective type, multiple choice questions. Coming to the marking scheme, students will be given 4 marks for every correct answer. Negative marking is applicable and 1 mark will be deducted for an erroneous response.
The result will be uploaded on the official portal. Students who successfully crack the BCECE and meet the cut-off will be called for the counseling rounds. The board will send postal notifications about the same. Candidates will be granted admission on the basis of merit and the availability of seats in their chosen college and course.
